Billie Sue (Woods) Barton is an amazing mother, wife, sister, aunt, and a great friend to all. She has never met a stranger, Billie is the kind of person that’ll leave you smiling. Billie is blessed with 3 Children (Jerry Bridger, Tabitha Chen, Dustin Barton) 8 Grandkids, 3 Great Grandbabies, and lots of relatives who love her dearly. She is the backbone of our family, always there to find solutions and answers for us. This time she needs our help.
In mid-January she was diagnosed with Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma, a salivary gland Cancer in her mouth that spread into her bone. This rocked our family; health and dental care are things she has always taken very seriously. Billie has never smoked, and she always has routine dental and health appointments. This was especially shocking to Billie!
The oncologists acted fast and Billie was scheduled for surgery in early March. She traveled the 2+ hours to Springfield, MO where a major part of her palate was removed, some back teeth, and salivary glands. While in recovery the biopsy came back as a High-Grade Level 2 Cancer. Her doctors have advised Radiation treatment, as it is highly likely to return. She also has to have a prosthetic plate made to cover the area of bone removed from the roof of her mouth.
In the State of Missouri there is only one person who can make the prosthetic plate she needs, and this person is “out-of-network.” We are paying for everything out of pocket. We are overwhelmed with medical bills and heartbroken. Dealing with a Cancer diagnosis is one of the worse things in the world, now pile medical bills on top of that. This is a very heart-wrenching time for Billie and our family as we fight this nasty illness and cover medical expenses.
