Dear friends and family,
My Name is Dee
My heart aches for my loved ones back home in Jamaica as I write this. Hurricane Melissa has torn through the island, leaving many areas devastated — including the community where I was born.
My family and close neighbors have lost so much — not only their homes, but also the animals and fruit trees that were their main sources of food and livelihood. Chickens, goats, and crops that once fed entire families are gone. The fruit trees they’ve nurtured for years — mango, breadfruit, banana — are now destroyed.
Even though I’m not there physically, my heart is with them every moment. The road to recovery will be long, and they urgently need our help for food, clean water, shelter, and to rebuild what’s been lost.
While I’m grateful my family is safe, they’re struggling to recover from almost nothing. I’m asking for your help — any support, big or small, will go directly toward helping them and others in the community get back on their feet.
Whether it’s through a small donation, sharing this message, or keeping Jamaica in your prayers, every act of kindness makes a difference.
Let’s show that even when storms hit, love and community are stronger.
If you’d like to contribute directly, here’s how you can help:
