Emergency Help Needed for Our Elderly Aunt & Uncle Affected by Major Flooding Near Taree

Hi, my name is Jan Hedley, and I live in Bulga NSW. I’m starting this GoFundMe campaign on behalf of my aunty and uncle, Chlorine and Kenny, who are in their 80s and have been severely impacted by the recent catastrophic floods on Oxley Island, NSW.

They live on a small rural farm, which has been completely inundated by floodwaters. Over 24 terrifying hours, they watched helplessly as rising water swallowed their home, car, farm sheds, tractors, implements, and most of their belongings. With no way to escape, they climbed onto their kitchen table and waited—unsure if help would come. My aunty, who cannot swim, was understandably terrified. They were finally rescued by the SES at around 11pm and taken to Tuncurry.

They have lived in this home and worked on their property for decades, and not once has floodwater ever entered their house. This was by far the worst flood event they have ever experienced—unprecedented in both scale and impact. They are devastated, both emotionally and physically, by the loss.

While they are thankfully safe, they have lost almost everything and are now displaced.

I’m raising funds to help cover their immediate needs and give them some relief as they begin to rebuild. The funds raised will be used for:

• Emergency temporary accommodation

• Clothing and shoes

• Food and daily living essentials

• Basic furniture and household goods

• Medical needs

• Urgent repairs or cleanup

• Transport and fuel to rebuild

Every dollar will go directly to supporting them through this immediate crisis and helping them regain some stability. I will personally oversee the withdrawal of funds and ensure everything is spent as outlined above.

They have always been generous and hardworking people who have given much to their community and family. Now, they need a helping hand to get through this incredibly difficult time.
