Help our dog Shadow survive a vicious attack

Shadow is a loving, playful, and even sometimes sassy small poodle that my mom brought home by surprise many years ago. He is my mom's little sidekick who loves going on adventures with her all the time. He bonds with everyone in the family, but he is particularly close to my mom and my brother. Sadly, on Christmas eve, while being walked on a leash during his daily neighborhood stroll, they only made it just a few steps away from the house when, violently, he wound up locked in-between the jaws of an unleashed dog that had charged at them. (Shadow is about 5 lbs and the attacking dog was about 60 lbs). After a very dangerous tussle, my brother managed to get the aggressing dog to loosen its jaw and drop shadow. As you probably can assume, it left a terrifying, bloody sight and a very expensive emergency vet trip.

After being rushed to surgery and then being monitored, Shadow is still in really serious condition. His broken ribs make it too painful for him to sit or lie down, so he only wants to stand. Yet, his shoulder is also broken so standing is just as excruciating. Among other things such as deep puncture wounds and labored breathing, it's a miracle that he even survived the attack. If my brother wasn't tactful enough to get him loose and my mom hadn't urgently rushed him to the vet for surgery, there's no doubt he'd be gone already. Thankfully there still might be a chance.

As for expenses, the initial emergency visit has amounted to nearly $2700. This does not include the numerous follow-up visits Shadow will need in these next few days/weeks. We're doing what we can to address this situation with the owners of the aggressive dog, but we have no idea how timely/cooperative they will be in fulfilling their responsibility of this tragedy.

Therefore, I made this Fundraiser in hopes to urgently fund Shadow's first stages of care to help him have the best chance of survival. I know this is probably 1 of a million dog stories you read here, but that doesn't change the fact that Shadow brings so much joy to our family, especially my mom. Please help us keep Shadow on a path to recovery and donate even the smallest amount you can and/or share this with friends and family. It would genuinely mean the world.

Below are some photos of Shadow throughout the years. But just for a heads up, the last few images are rather graphic as they show his current wounds from the attack.
