Our boys were playing fetch with our dog when a stick punctured his throat, leaving a quarter-sized hole. We had to rush him to the emergency vet for treatment, and it was one of the scariest moments our family has faced. Seeing our dog in pain and not knowing what would happen next was heartbreaking for all of us. The emergency team acted quickly, but the costs for his care have added up fast.
The money raised will help cover his emergency treatment, medications, and upcoming vet visits. We’re doing everything we can to help him recover at home, but if he needs further care like a CT scan or surgery, the costs could be significant. We’re hoping for the best, but want to be prepared for whatever he needs to heal and get back to his happy, playful self.
I really don’t like asking for help and I’m not expecting this to be successful. Even if people just share our story to raise awareness for their own pets, I consider that a win. I’m extremely grateful for everyone’s support, whether it’s a donation or simply spreading the word. Thank you for caring about our family and our dog.
UPDATE
Thank you all for the incredible support we’ve received since Arlow’s accident. As we navigate his recovery, we wanted to share an update on the next steps and the financial reality of his treatment. Our boys were playing fetch when a stick punctured Arlow's throat, leaving a quarter-sized hole. After the initial rush to the emergency vet, we’ve been doing everything possible to help him heal at home, but we have reached a point where specialist care is required. The Next Steps: Tomorrow, we are heading to Summit Veterinary Referral Center in Tacoma for a surgeon consultation and a visit for Arlow. This visit is critical to determining the full extent of the internal damage and finalizing his treatment plan. Financial Update: The costs for his care have added up rapidly, and we now have more concrete estimates for the specialized procedures required: CT Scan: Estimated between $5,000 – $7,500. Surgery & Total Care: Including the procedure and specialist follow-up, total costs are now estimated to reach $13,000 – $17,000, pending the outcome of tomorrow's consultation. The funds raised will go directly toward these imaging costs, the surgery, and his ongoing medications. Seeing Arlow in pain has been heartbreaking for our family, and while I’m not comfortable asking for help, we want to be fully prepared to give him the best chance at getting back to his happy, playful self. Even if you aren't able to donate, sharing Arlow’s story to raise awareness for other pet owners is a huge win for us. We are beyond grateful for the kindness and support you’ve shown our family during this time.
