Please Help Our Dog Addie
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
I never ask for help, but right now, I need help.
I am asking for help at this time with Addie’s unexpected hospitalization.
On Sunday, July 3rd, while I was out, Addie got her almost full bottle of Rimadyl off the counter. The Rimadyl she was prescribed 2 weeks ago at another emergency vet visit for a torn ACL. I guess the Rimadyl was working since she was able to get on the counter.
She chewed it open & consumed the contents. We were in complete panic. We induced vomiting at the instruction of a local vet & contacted Animal Poison Control.
Due to the fact that I was out several hours, & we didn’t know how long the medication had been in her system, I was instructed to get her to an Emergency Veterinary Hospital as she definitely consumed more than enough to kill her.
She is currently an hour away, at Crown Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Lebanon, NJ being treated for Rimadyl toxicity.
Financially, this couldn’t have happened at a worse time.
This dog is my heart & at the heart of our family. She has been with me & the kids through the most difficult last few years for our family. She has also been an unofficial volunteer for NorthStar Pet Rescue as foster sister to the MANY dogs that have come through our home. She has taught them how to ’dog’, & how to trust humans, & how to love & be loved.
She has a giant heart & huge personality & just wants to love everyone she meets.
Like most loves of our life, she can drive me totally crazy, but I can’t imagine life without her…not yet anyway…
If you are able to contribute to Addie’s care in any amount, it would be so appreciated by my kids & me. If you are unable to contribute, if you would please consider sharing, that would be a great help.
Edited to add: apparently Rimadyl toxicity is pretty common…maybe…just, MAYBE…they shouldn’t make it beef flavored & like a treat????
