Our dear friend and Greenpoint neighbor, Calvin, needs our help.
Seven years ago, when Calvin was just a baby, he bravely fought and beat neuroblastoma. After just under a year of treatment and five cancer-free years of clear scans, his family finally believed that chapter was behind them.
Unfortunately, this summer, the cancer has come back.
This time, the tumor began in Calvin’s adrenal gland, spread through his bone marrow, and grew into his skull—causing dangerous pressure on his brain. The Neurosurgeon was able to remove 80% of the tumor safely, and now Calvin is enduring an aggressive treatment plan to fight the rest.
Calvin’s Treatment Journey:
- He is currently on his third round of chemotherapy (with two more to go).
- After chemo, he will need two stem cell transplants.
- Beginning after the holidays, Calvin will start months of immunotherapy that will last through the spring.
This means Calvin and his family will spend most of the school year in and out of the hospital, balancing treatments, recovery, and the emotional rollercoaster of a second cancer battle.
How You Can Help:
The toll of cancer is not only emotional but also financial. Between medical bills, travel to and from the hospital, time away from work, and the everyday costs of caring for a child in treatment, Calvin’s family needs our support.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease the burden so they can focus on what matters most: helping Calvin heal and keeping life as steady as possible for him.
If you are not able to give, please consider sharing this page to spread the word.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for lifting up Calvin and his family during this unimaginably difficult time.
