Hi! My name is Rhiannon and I teach Deaf and Hard of Hearing high school students in Hesperia, California. I teach in a self contained special education classroom and I have the best students EVER! 

This semester we are embarking on a semester long project that is integrated into all of our subjects. We are learning about all things Disneyland. From planning a trip, to the physics of attractions, to the magic of Disney snacks! 

So far we have learned about how Walt Disney needed investors to build Disneyland. We are creating our own projects that need investment. We will be learning about advertising and marketing soon as we try to create a new land for Disneyland. 

We have learned about budgeting and planning and also fundraising. (We currently have a T-Shirt Fundraiser that you can find on our Instagram.) 




We are learning about access Deaf and hard of hearing and how to acquire that access in a public place. How can we request interpreters? How can we have the same magical experience as hearing? 

Our trip in total is going to cost us $4500. We are a small class and we don’t have the luxury of lots of students to split the cost. Even though including staff there is 16 people going on the trip, we still have to pay for a whole bus. 

This trip is something I want to give my students- they don’t get to go on fun trips that most students get to go on with their general education schools because we are a small program.
