Help Our Daughter Receive Gender Affirming Care
Donation protected
Thanks for taking the time to read our story. In our family, we deconstruct gender ideologies and gender roles and prioritize our children's mental health. When our oldest was young, he had no interest in playing with toys, as it is part of his autism diagnosis. When our youngest was born, and showed interest in toys and playing, no matter the interest, we took it and ran with it. She enjoyed everything from trains to monster trucks, dolls, makeup, painting her nails and stuffed animals.
The moment she showed interest in presenting more feminine, we immediately removed her from attending weekly Catholic education classes and stopped attending for the simple reason, it is not a safe and affirming environment for our family
We are now navigating finding new community and support.
For most people, they may not understand our life, but this child was born this way. We bought every toy she asked for, allowed her to watch stereotypical and non-stereotypical gender role shows; while at night, she would turn her cape into a skirt, and wear a long t-shirt as a dress.
She has been living her true self for nearly two years now and learns to love herself more every day. She has also been attending gender affirming therapy for nearly two years, which we also pay out of pocket for.
We are seeking assistance for medical funds, as PCH does not accept our current health insurance and with the current presidential administration, I worry we lose access to the health insurance that we may have for her in the future.
Update:
As of 1/31/2025 her current therapist notified us that she is not able to recommend a "readiness" letter to PCH due to the executive order. We are now starting over with a new psychologist at PCH on 2/17/2024. Our first visit was quoted at $450-$500.
Any money raised will go directly to medical and general care bills.
Left over money will go into a fund for her, or to emergency mutual aid funds needed to other gender non-conforming individuals in our community.
Thank you.
