UPDATE: We made it past $10,000! We are beyond grateful, thank you so much. The next stretch goal is $14,000. See the campaign updates to see Miyuki's surgery recovery process.
Hi everyone, I’m Liisa, and I’m reaching out for my daughter who’s in a medical crisis that we can’t navigate alone. As a mother, there is nothing harder than watching your child suffer, and Miyuki has been battling pain for over two decades.
Miyuki has been fighting endometriosis and adenomyosis for years. Not only is every period debilitating, but endometriosis also contributes to daily inflammation and pain, nonstop UTI symptoms (with no UTI), migraines and fatigue. On top of this she is autistic with ADHD and severe PTSD, making the struggle more agonizing.
Miyuki moved to Thailand to afford care, and she was quoted $5,000 USD to perform the necessary hysterectomy and excision. However, the situation turned critical when the endometriosis attacks spiked to unbearable pain that medication couldn’t touch, and MRI imaging showed lesions and chocolate cysts spread to multiple organs.
Just like that, the cost of the surgery quadrupled overnight and with all hormones and medications failing to help alleviate the pain, immediate surgery is necessary. It’s scheduled for Friday, March 27th, with a specialist flying in from Bangkok.
To make matters worse, she has been denied insurance coverage because of a pre-existing condition. We had money raised for the original surgery cost, but now this is an emergency; her body is at a breaking point.
Because of Miyuki’s severe PTSD and autism, this surgery is also a massive hurdle for her mental health. We aren't just raising money for the operating room; we are also raising it for the trauma-informed care and therapy she needs to survive the recovery process.
Every dollar goes directly to her surgeons and her specialized PTSD support. Please help us get our daughter the life-saving care she deserves so she can finally have a future without this pain.
I know a lot of people are struggling, so we appreciate any support. Every dollar helps fund surgery, support, meals, and medications. If you can’t help financially, we ask you to please share the link with everyone you can.
Cost breakdown:
Our final dream goal is to raise $19,000 USD which would cover surgery and recovery. The Surgery cost is $20,000 and we already have $5,000 raised for the original surgery cost. Here's where the raised money will go:
- $15,000 for the hysterectomy, endometriosis excision surgery and post-op medications.
- $1,000 for 10 post-op recovery therapy sessions to manage PTSD, autism and ADHD. Sessions will be two to three times a week.
- $3,000 for Miyuki to stay in a recovery home for 1-2 months with on call medical and mental health support. After I return to America, she will still need support with recovery due to her chronic physical and mental health issues.
- All extra will go towards meals and any unforseen recovery costs.
