Our dad, Harlow Newton Jr. (known locally in Dominical as "The Carver and El Abuelo") recently suffered a severe hip bone fracture, and  due to the severity of the injury, he was rushed to a private hospital here in Costa Rica. 

Unfortunately his VA insurance won't cover the surgery and his ongoing post-recovery treatment as he is outside the USA, and his medical expenses are over $15,000. 

We are trying to raise every dollar we can to help cover his medical expenses, as some of us in the family have put the expenses on credit cards and borrowed money, and we are asking for any help from his friends and those who have been touched by our father though his one-of-a-kind carvings and his writings. 

Our dad is currently in Rivas (outside of San Isidro de El General - "Perez") where he's receiving 24 hour care, as he recovers from the surgery. If you are in Costa Rica and would like to visit him, please let us know, as he would be happy to see many of you that have known him over the years.
