On behalf of Frank Rentchler, his kids, Crystal, Candyce, and James, we want to share our beloved dad’s story. If you know him, you know he would HATE this, so it’s a secret. He wouldn’t dream of asking anyone for anything.

Our dad has owned this car for 38 years, just dreaming of what it could be, making hypothetical plans that he thought he would never be able to afford, while it sat in his garage.

In 2019, he was able to afford to send it to Mann’s Restoration to be painted, saving every penny after putting James through private school, paying for college tuition, etc., on a very small income.

Our dad doesn’t have nice things; this is the ONE thing, his car, that he put countless hours of labor into, sacrificing for his dream.

He was so proud of it. This summer, he got it to a place that he was finally ready to start taking it to car shows. He was going to a car show at Faith Church on Hwy 30 on 5/30 when a car pulled right out in front of him. He didn’t have time to even hit the brakes. He was taken to Barnes Hospital in an ambulance to be treated for a concussion and several other bumps and bruises.

He is okay physically, and we are so grateful for that. The fear of walking into an emergency room as his children, not knowing what we would see, is almost paralyzing.

His worst injury is his broken heart over his beloved car.

When he saw it at the tow yard the first time, he took a knee and audibly cried.
