Please help our dad keep his home!

Many of you know our dad, Dan Moir, as a man who has always worked hard, helped others, and poured everything he had into supporting his family. Now he’s facing the fight of his life after losing his life savings to a cruel scam.

We’re raising funds to help our dad keep his home, escape a crippling high-interest mortgage, and make his home safe and livable again.

Over the last year and a half, our dad was the victim of a sophisticated scam that stole over $600,000 CAD—his entire life savings. The scammer convinced him he was making legitimate investments, and while he believed the money was coming, he began major renovations on his home. When the truth came out, the money was gone; the renovations were unfinished, and he was stuck with a high-interest mortgage that’s draining what little income he has left.

Now he’s trapped. He can’t refinance to get a fair, affordable mortgage because his home isn’t in livable condition. He can’t afford to finish the repairs because his savings were stolen. Without help, he will lose the house and property entirely.

On top of the financial devastation, we are deeply concerned about his health. He has already endured bladder cancer twice, a heart attack that nearly killed him, diabetes and chronic back problems that prevent him from working in his trade. Carrying this overwhelming burden after surviving so much is taking a heavy toll, and we fear what losing his home would mean for him physically and emotionally.

We need to raise $50,000 to:

• Finish essential repairs so the home qualifies for a new, affordable mortgage.

• Cover the current mortgage in the meantime so he doesn’t lose it before then.
