Lac du Bonnet Senior Loses Home in Devastating House Fire
Donation protected
Long time Lac du Bonnet resident and retiree, Louis Bruneau (Dad and Grandpa), lost his home due to a devastating house fire last week. Louis has also suffered first and second degree burns to 18% of his body, from trying to extinguish the flames himself before escaping to safety.
Louis has been a hard-working and proud self-employed member of the Lac du Bonnet community his entire life (Elbee TV & Electronics) and is sadly, at 83 years, left without a home, belongings and his savings.
My sisters (Kim, Robin) and I are reaching out with hope, of alleviating his financial burden, while he bravely starts his long journey of healing.
Despite the harrowing efforts of our local firefighters, his home is not salvageable. Rebuilding is not an option and unattainable.
Our goal is based on, and funds will go toward, the costly assessment and safe cleanup of the site, which is hazardous at the moment. It will be Dad's responsibility and beyond reach without assistance. Critical items as well, are needed as Louis left his burning home without a shirt on his back, literally. Our dad's vision and hearing is impaired, and his challenges today are multiplied without his glasses and his hearing aids.
Never, did we imagine having to publicly ask for help, and it is so hard, but necessary. Dad has received immediate support from family and friends, and we are so grateful to all who came to his aid so quickly. At the moment he is safe, with a bed to sleep in, a roof over his head and clothes to wear, although recovery and starting over will be a long road with challenges yet known.
Please consider sharing our plea or contributing if you are able. We understand today’s world is expensive, so if well wishes and kindness are all you can give, we appreciate that too, more than you know.
