Thank you so much for taking a moment to read this—it truly means more than we can express.

Our family has found ourselves in a situation we never imagined facing. It’s incredibly difficult to ask for help like this, but we are doing it out of love and hope. Love for our dad and hope for more time.

Our dad—someone who means everything to us—is currently in kidney failure and has been placed on the transplant list. We are grateful that a living donor is a real possibility, giving him an amazing chance at more time with us. More time to laugh, to show up, to simply be here—which is something we don’t take for granted for a second.

However, the financial reality of this life-saving procedure is overwhelming. Our dad and bonus mom live on Social Security, and the powers that be have somehow deemed them ineligible for financial assistance. Despite being on a fixed income, they are expected to shoulder the majority of the costs. The transplant itself is over $300,000, along with recovery expenses and lifelong medications—one of which alone costs around $1,500 each month. Insurance will help, but only partially, leaving them with an impossible gap.

We know everyone is doing their best just to get through their own day-to-day lives, and we don’t take that lightly. But this is our dad. There is no price we could ever put on him. He is deeply loved, and there is still so much life left for him to be part of—so many moments we aren’t ready to lose.
