Help a Latin American rebel fight for the glaciers

Donation protected
On 15 March, a Latin American rebel and committed socio-environmental activist, left an urgent message on the walls of government buildings in Argentina: “Glaciers are not for sale,” and, “The glacier law is not to be touched.” The action received widespread attention. But she was arrested and charged with property damage.

You can help her make her case in court. Doing what is necessary to protect the Earth is not vandalism. “I’m not a criminal,” she declared after she was detained, “I’m a defender of water and of nature, which is now being destroyed by the state. I only delivered an urgent message.”

What is the Glacier Law? The Argentinean National Glacier Protection Law sets the minimal standards for environmental protection of the country’s approximately 17,000 glaciers. They are crucial ecosystems that feed watersheds and river flows. The glaciers are under threat from mining companies, endangering biodiversity and local populations. This year, President Javier Milei has begun loosening the Glacier Law, encouraging further mining and industrial activity in glacial and periglacial landscapes.

Our comrade wants to fight the charges against her, and make a case for the need for civil disobedient action when life itself is under threat. For her legal case she needs $4800. Will you help her?
