Our own local island treasure and Wonder of a Woman, Booboo James was recently diagnosed with incurable and terminal Stage 4 Lung Cancer that has metastasized to her brain.

Though she will undergo radiation on her brain this winter, her doctors have advised her to plan for only a few more healthy months before this disease gets the best of her.

Most of you know Booboo as an inspiring fitness instructor who has dedicated years to helping empower women of all ages thru her love of boxing. Or maybe you saw her one of the many times she volunteered as Auctioneer or Master of Ceremonies at other island fundraisers. Or you recognize her from her years as a server at many of our favorite island restaurants.

Or, most importantly, you know her as Julia's mom. (I'd add in "Barry's Mom" also but that feels only slightly ridiculous as he's a dog.)

In nothing less than we'd all expect, and in typical Booboo fashion she plans to go out with the biggest bang possible and is going to live these next months to the absolute fullest.

Devastatingly, she is unable to continue to work or teach her beloved boxing classes.

Our friend, who has given so much to our little community, now needs us to wrap her in love, safety and generosity.

This fundraiser will help with supplemental income, ensuring she and her daughter can stay in their home, medical bills and end of life care.

Together we can help Booboo spend these last few months with her daughter, family, friends and her beloved Barry doing as many of the things she loves as possible.
