Janis had an injury at work last year and surgery. During her 6-month recovery, her shoulder was reinjured while recovering and she had surgery again on Feb 15/19.
WorkSafe BC has cut her off from funding before her second surgery because they're claiming that the reinjury is unrelated to the original injury.
She is now living on disability, which is half the amount she has been living off of on WCB. It barely covers rent. She doesn't have any other income coming in for food, phone bill, car insurance, internet bill.
She is on heavy pain medication and unable to work. Her union is fighting for an appeal for the WorkSafe BC decision but it will be months until a resolution. In the meantime, she doesn't have enough to live off of.
She lives alone with her amazing 'puppy' to keep her company.
