Friday April 24th we welcomed a beautiful bay colt who appeared happy and healthy. Unfortunately within a few hours we realized we needed vet intervention and with confirmation of his IGG levels tanking, the decision was made to send him to the NC State veterinary hospital for immediate care and plasma transfusions. When we arrived, his IGG has dropped to zero and time was of the essence.
We held our breath the first 24 hours as it wasn’t a guarantee our efforts would be 100% in his recovery process, but this guy is a fighter! Within 24 hours we saw a massive uptick in his overall health and numbers! We are still working on getting him off the feeding tube and pan feedings but each day we’re making progress in the right direction!
Initial quote for his stay was a manageable number, but we all know things can change as care needs arise. I am reaching out in hopes people are possibly in a position to help bridge the financial gap between what we can afford/have paid for and the remaining costs to get him home healthy and at a appropriate time. We are trying to keep him in the hospital team’s care through their ideal timeline and not just through when our current available money runs out. Anything helps truly and any extra we plan to donate for anyone in the future caught in a similar situation.
