Hello! We are the Perrys, Vivica and Gabriel. We've been trying to start a family, but a few things have gotten in the way:
1. Vivica has a cancerous mutation that requires endoscopic scopes every 6-10 months, which are both expensive and necessary and make our window for having children very narrow
2. Vivica has polyps in her stomach associated with her mutation. Most polyps are removed during her routine scopes, but these ones would require removing her entire stomach. Without a stomach, she won't really be able to have children.
3. We have been experiencing infertility, meaning that we have a very low chance of meeting those 6-10 month windows for having children.
4. Vivica's team of specialists say that she is healthy enough to go through In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) and pregnancy, but that could change if she loses her stomach in the future.
Because Vivica could develop cancer in the future, we and our team of medical specialists feel that it's necessary that we grow our family now while Vivica is certainly healthy. Because of these factors, we have decided to pursue IVF to help us have the family we've always dreamed of.
The IVF process is a medical miracle where doctors can produce and care for embryos, increasing their likelihood of survival and maturity. We are also blessed to have the ability to screen the embryos for the cancerous mutation Vivica carries, so that our children will not have to face frequent scopes and nearly assured cancer throughout their lives.
We have already been approved for a loan of $25,000 to pay for the initial phases of IVF, but that amount has been well used already. With this Gofundme, we hope to cover the following costs:
- Our genetic testing, which so far has been $3,000
- Egg extraction, which was two bills of $11,500 each.
- The medications/shots, which was about $7,000 total
- Additionally, we have had to pay about another $8,000 in deductibles this year for Viv's endoscopies.
- We have luckily learned that freezing all the embryos is only $50 per month, so we are very grateful for that.
Any extra funds raised beyond what we need for our current IVF bills will go towards helping with future implementation for the rest of our children.
