Help our cat walk again

On July 21, 2019 my boyfriend and I adopted Louie from Miami-Dade Animal services. He quickly became the love of our lives. In November 2019, Louie was displaying knuckling of his back two legs and a painful walking pattern. It was clear that Louie was very weak, causing him to refrain from eating and being active. After visiting a neurologist, Louie was prescribed antibiotics, steroids, and pain medication. This helped Louie return almost back to normal. Louie displayed no pain for 8 months and all was well, he even got a new sister to play with. In late July of this year, Louie began displaying the same symptoms as before. He was prescribed the same medication from a year prior, but this time he did not regain his full strength. It has been really hard for us to see our sweet and loving boy struggle to walk. Without an MRI, the neurologists are not able to provide Louie with a diagnosis. My boyfriend and I are both full time graduate students therefor these expenses are difficult to manage. We are asking for help so we can get an MRI for Louie which, will between $3,500-$4,500 (this includes further testing and blood work). We understand that with COVID going on it may be hard to donate. With that being said, we hope that you can help us share Louie's story.

-Our neurologist also said that Louie's symptoms are very rare in cats, if you know anyone who may be able to help us or who has seen Louie's walking pattern before please let us know. (Although we do not know Louie's exact age, we think he was born in March 2019 which means he is still very young. This makes his case even more of a mystery.) 

-Louie has never had an injury to his spine that we know of.
-We do not think it is a slipped disc as that is very rare for cats. 
-He has tested negative for FIV and FeLV, his adopted sister was also negative.
