Help our cat Dan with his amputation!

Hello, I’m James, and my partner Sydney and I have a wonderfully sweet 1yr old cat named Dan Greene.
A few weeks ago, we arrived home from work to find Dan dragging his hind leg and avoiding putting weight on it. We immediately took him to the emergency animal hospital, where they told us it was “most likely a torn ligament”, given pain meds, and sent home. We were told it might take weeks to heal, but only bring him back if he wasn’t behaving normally.
For two weeks, we saw no improvement, but he was otherwise behaving completely normally. Eating, drinking, using the litter box, asking for cuddles, etc. We made a follow up appointment at our regular vet.
Well, it turns out the ER grossly underestimated his injury. He had a traumatic injury to his paw, and it has now gone necrotic. He cannot feel it at all, so thankfully he’s not in pain. The nerves are completely severed, so his only course of action is to amputate his leg.
The good news is tripod cats do REALLY well, and he has already adjusted to it! Dan is in great spirits, and behaving like his usual charming self. The limb has to be amputated because he’s licking/gnawing at it, and there’s a risk of infection if left unattended.
Dan’s surgery is scheduled for Oct. 30th. We absorbed the $1000 ER bill, but we’re going to need your help for the amputation. Only give what you can afford, and every little bit helps.
