Help our brother Steven fight Parkinson’s Disease
Donation protected
Hi! Our names are Janet, Donna, Cindy and Patty. We are raising funds for our little brother Steven who is diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.
Our brother Steven has always been a hard-working guy. We lost our father when we were young. To help the family, Steven did all he could to bring in money: mowing lawns, shoveling snow, selling worms to fisherman and even having a paper route. From his childhood thru adulthood, you could ask for his help and he never says no. Now we need to try to help him.
Steven was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease seven years ago at the age 46.
Steven has two beautiful daughters (17 & 15) with his late wife Kim who passed away from Pancreatic Cancer in 2008. At that time, he was left to raise a 3-year-old and a 1 1/2-year-old while working full time. While this was a really difficult time, his employer, Kuka was amazing in their support of the family. In 2009 Steven found love again. His family grew from 3 to 7 when he and Diane got married. Life was back on track and all their future was bright.
in 2015, the dream they were living turned into a nightmare. It started out with small tremors in his hand. However, over the years it has progressed to the point that he is no longer able to work. As is common with the disease, Steven is developing issues with his memory and coordination. His energy level is depleted to the point he requires frequent naps. The loss of the dexterity in his hands has prevented him from executing his duties as an engineer. Unfortunately, Kuka and Steven had to part ways. We would like to thank Kuka for all their support they have shown Steven and his family over these many years.
Now Steven and his family are entering a new chapter, and this is where we are hoping you can help. While he is appealing Social Security’s denial of his disability claim, the disease has not been put on hold.
Steven is taking 21 pills a day. His disease continues to progress and his doctor would like him to have Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery. DBS is a surgical procedure for Parkinson’s that can help ease motor symptoms and decrease medication requirements in some people. However, there is a shortening window of time that he cannot pass and still be able to have this surgery. If this disease progresses two more levels, he will not be able to have the surgery.
Diane just secured a job delivering for Amazon and the good news is there will be a degree of health insurance coverage. Diane’s income helps keep food on the table and covers the basics for the family. However, even with the coverage, as with any catastrophic diagnosis, the “out of pocket” will be huge.
This is where we are hoping for your help. Anything you can do is appreciated more than you can know! 100% of the money collected is going to Steven’s treatment and medications.
Thank you for keeping this wonderful father…husband…brother in your prayers!
