Phil Merlino is a 25+ year journeyman lineman, husband and father, currently out of IBEW 1245, by way of IBEW 47. Phil is currently working on the “The Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project (PCEP)” upgrading and electrifying Caltrain’s 51-mile doubletrack commuter rail system from the 4th and King Caltrain Station in San Francisco, Calif., to the Tamien Station in San Jose, Calif. Phil and his crew of four was involved in a near fatal, train/equipment collision on March 10th at approximately 10:30am, in San Bruno Ca. Phil jumped from a crane to the right of way at the moment of impact, he suffered 3rd degree burns from the initial explosion on the back of his hands head and neck, he is currently in the burn center.
