There are moments which mark your life; moments when you realize that nothing will ever be the same and time is divided into two parts: before this and after this.
On Sunday, November 29, 2020, Brian Oss's life was forever changed when he was tragically paralyzed as the result of a gunshot wound that shattered his C5 vertebrae and severed the majority of his spinal cord. In a miracle, he survived!! but has already undergone several surgeries and procedures in order to stabilize his condition and help in his long and hard fight towards recovery. His most recent procedure was a tracheostomy to regulate his breathing and help prevent potentially fatal pneumonia.
This however, is just one hurdle of many..
Overwhelmed hospital staff and strict Covid-19 restrictions have kept Brian’s family and friends stranded by minimal contact with Brian, limited to just sending him cards and letters of love and support along with updates from his caregivers.
Anyone that has met Brian Oss knows that he has the spark of life and more than the WILL to fight!
Brian is a father, a loving son, a hard-worker, a true friend and a loyal brother. Brian has always been there when he was needed and his help came hand in hand with a humor that could make you laugh louder and smile much more often in a world that today seems so complicated and uncertain.
Now it’s time to give that support back!
Prior to the events of November 30, Brian was working as an Ironworker, enrolled in the apprenticeship program with Ironworkers Local 3 out of Pittsburgh, PA.
While he is no longer able to work his family must now rely on other means to provide the best possible care and treatment for Brian in his constantly changing condition.
A cost that can range in the millions of dollars!
Although some of these horrible events can not be changed, the continued hope and search for ways of improving his progress and care will go on!
But ultimately this care will be an expensive and long term struggle for the rest of his life, and this is why we ask for your possible support and help!

The purpose of this GoFundMe is to relieve Brian and his family of some of the financial burdens associated with his ongoing treatment and care. All funds collected will be used in his medical treatment and best interests. Any donation, whether big or small, is a blessing and a very appreciated step towards making this unimaginable journey a little less difficult.
His rehabilitation is going to be a long and trying one but it is not one that he will be going through alone.
