Help Our Brave Little Warrior Through His Surgeries

At 20 weeks pregnant, my sister-in-law learned that her baby had a limb abnormality. Doctors detected the absence of his thumb and radial bone and warned that there could be more defects after birth. They were given the heartbreaking option to terminate the pregnancy. With unwavering faith, they chose to continue—believing that God would not entrust them with this child if He did not know they were capable of loving and caring for him. From that moment on, they committed their hearts fully to their baby boy.

Our nephew was born via emergency C-section due to severe preeclampsia. He experienced acute respiratory distress at birth and required care in the NICU. After birth, multiple congenital conditions were diagnosed, and he was ultimately found to have VACTERL association, a rare condition involving several body systems.

He is now 9 months old and has already endured more than many do in a lifetime. His diagnoses include:
• Rectofistula (connected to his bladder)
• Absent thumb and radial bone
• Solitary kidney
• Hypospadias
• Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)
• Tethered spinal cord
• And other associated complications

Since birth, he has had countless specialist appointments, multiple emergency room visits, and three hospital admissions—largely due to recurrent urinary tract infections caused by the rectofistula. On December 23, he is scheduled to undergo rectofistula repair. This will not be the first Christmas we hoped to celebrate with our nephew—but instead of being at home surrounded by holiday lights, he will be in the hospital preparing for surgery. And this will not be his last; doctors anticipate 3–4 additional surgeries in the coming months as part of his ongoing care.

Despite everything he has been through, he is the happiest baby. He lights up everyone in the house, and you would never guess the challenges he faces. He rarely cries—only when he is hungry or sleepy—and spends most of his time smiling and engaging with those around him. He loves being played with and absolutely thrives when surrounded by people. His face truly glows whenever he watches his favorite show, Bebefinn, a simple joy that brings so much happiness to our family and reminds us why this fight is worth it.

Both of his parents work in the medical field and understand his condition deeply. His mother is a registered nurse, but due to the level of care and attention their son requires, she made the difficult decision to work part-time, only when family members are available to help care for him. His father works as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and carries much of the financial responsibility—regularly working overtime, including 16-hour shifts, and picking up extra shifts on his days off to cover medical bills and household expenses.

Despite the long hours, exhaustion, and emotional toll, they never waver in their devotion to their son. They continue to show up for him every single day with love, strength, and faith.

Today, we humbly ask for your support in being part of his healing journey. Your donation—no matter the amount—will help cover the costs of his upcoming surgeries, hospital stays, medications, and ongoing medical care. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping our little warrior in your prayers. Every act of kindness brings us one step closer to giving him the healthy future he deserves.

Thank you for standing with our family and for helping carry us through this journey.
