Ms. Boyd was a school teacher in Escondido, CA for over 28 years at San Pasqual High! She also taught ESL (English as a Second Language) during the same time period. She has directed and produced theater at Patio Playhouse as a volunteer for over 30 years as well as being a judge at Shakespeare Festivals and High School Competitions all over California!
As if that wasn't enough, four years ago, Ms. Boyd and another teacher, took a group of students to Nepal for a Summer Trip to learn about the community and theater there! This woman has been a staple of the Escondido community far longer than most businesses have been in place!
Ms. Boyd has unfortunately retired after many years of service to her community. Living off of Social Security and other retirement benefits, she is on a very fixed income.
In December of 2019, she was contacted by a group of scam artists. Without going into too much depth, she was convinced that she had issues with her bank accounts that required fees to prevent them from being locked from her accessing them. After paying the "fees" to make sure her accounts were not locked and she could pay her bills, the scam artists saw her as a ripe target and returned. This time, she had won $2 million dollars, and needed to pay transfer fees and such. These fees continued every few weeks. At one point, she even begged them to allow her to use some of the funds from the $2mil winnings to pay the fees as she needed to pay her mortgage, so they allowed her to pay the fees with a credit card.
The scam artists bled her credit card and savings account dry, making sure to tap into her social security and other benefits as they were direct deposited before her payments to her mortgage went through.
At first, she thought it was real, so she didn't say anything. When she eventually realized she had been scammed, she was too embarrassed and afraid that she was in trouble, to ask for help, so the fraud continued until the banks threatened to close her accounts, and family members had gotten notifications of such issues/stepped in.
In the end, Ms. Boyd had been scammed out of over $40,000, and a hero to the community is now being threatened to have her Toyota repossessed, and be evicted from her home of over 40 years for failure to pay the last 6 months of payments!
We ask our communities help in getting this woman caught up, and set so she can live the rest of her life in the peace she deserves for all of the help she's given, not only to one, but two generations of families throughout the many years of her life! 100% of the proceeds from this gofundme will be transferred to her NEW bank account, safe and secure, so she can once again, go to enjoying the retirement she truly deserves!
