Help our beloved Gina crush cancer

Hi, my name is Carina and I'm fundraising for my mum who's battling Cancer on the other side of the world in Canada.

Late last year our world got turned upside down when Gina got diagnosed with an aggressive B-Cell Lymphoma. In a matter of weeks she went from being a healthy, happy 58-year old to being bed-ridden in hospital, with urgent Chemo treatments about to commence.

Over the last 6 months Gina has fought a hard battle. A large tumour in her spine has damaged a nerve in her right leg, leaving it paralysed and unusable. She has been bed-ridden in hospital since October 2020 unable to do most basic life functions on her own.

Following the devastating cancer diagnosis, countless other complications followed, which she has bravely endured one by one.

Last month she completed her 6th chemotherapy treatment and was finally starting to feel better and more like herself again. We eagerly awaited the results following the completion of her treatment, with high hopes that it would be a good outcome. Sadly and surprisingly, results showed that the 6th round of chemo had not worked, and while the tumours had shrunk, they were now no longer responding to the chemo.

Gina's body had been through a lot at this stage and could not handle any stronger doses of chemo, so the doctors said they have no other options for her treatment besides palliative care and gave her a few months left to live... another huge shock for us as she was physically and mentally feeling better, and of course wanted to keep fighting.

Gina has always been a big believer in herbal medicine, and it was now time to seek alternative treatment options which are all out-of-pocket expenses.

Gina is currently undergoing O-zone therapy as well as Vitamin infusions to help her body fight. These therapies are costing $2-3,000/week and will run for the next 10 weeks, after which more testing will be done to determine the outcome and effectiveness.

She also needs access to privately-funded physiotherapy for her leg, as the resources available in hospital have not been sufficient. The longer she remains bed-ridden with minimal movement, the slimmer her chances become of ever using her leg again.

Funds will also be used to move Gina from the hospital into an assisted living accomodation, as she has lost her place in Canada and needs a carer with her regularly.

In a few weeks time Gina will have depleted her life's savings and all government assistance available to her in Canada. She urgently needs our help to continue funding her fight. The money raised will support what we can provide, to help get my mum through the next few months and give her a fighting chance at life. Gina has no immediately family with her in Canada and no other children to assist her.

Being on the other side of the world and unable to be by her side has been incredibly difficult and I have not yet shared this news with many. Our hopes were high that it would be resolved through the chemotherapy, without needing to share this tragic story with the world, but here we are.
