Dearest brothers and sisters in Christ,
Ave Maria!
I am a friend of Carmel, the Archdiocese of New York, and Holy Mother Church.
I am writing this message to relay a need from the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of the Monastery of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint Joseph in Brooklyn, NY (affectionately known as the Brooklyn Carmel). These sisters have been the heartbeat of the Archdiocese of New York. They have undoubtedly supported not just the diocese but the state, the surrounding states, all of America, the whole of the Universal Catholic Church, and the well-being of the world with the power of their prayers.
The Sisters live their lives entirely cloistered to remain pure from the harshness of the world. In doing so, a Carmelite Nun may stay connected to the contemplation of Our Lord and pray fervently for the salvation of souls and our priests who rely so heavily on the graces obtained from these generous servants of God.
Due to their seclusion from the world, the Sisters cannot fundraise using the modern tools of our day. We have all seen so many acts of charity in this manner; perhaps to help a family whose house had burned down, a mother struggling to support her children during hardship, or to support helpless animals at our local shelter.
The contemplative way of life for the Sisters has been disrupted for a long time. The area they live in has become hostile to them, with locals performing satanic acts outside of the Monastery and harassing them with disruptive music at all hours of the night. Drug needles can be seen on the outskirts of the entrance, only a few feet away from their windows. They have many young women hoping to join their community, but they can not, under the circumstances, accept them. The Sisters petitioned the Holy Family, and after much prayer, a kind soul came forward and was moved by Our Lord to gift them a large parcel of land out in Pennsylvania. They are in the process of building a new monastery where it will be possible for them to live out their Carmelite charism of contemplation and prayer. This endeavor is taking a long time, as they rely on the kindness of benefactors to fund their journey to solitude.
Many of us are unaware that the Carmelite Sisters of Brooklyn exist; we need your help to spread the word to all men and women of goodwill!
They want to help another religious community of Sisters by selling them their altar bread machine at a discounted price so that the other Sisters can support themselves. During their time of need, the Carmelite Sisters are ever charitable and desire to give to their neighbor Sisters.
Mother Ana Maria, Prioress of the Monastery, penned the below letter for circulation to benefactors. Mother is asking for funds to give them the ability to sell the altar bread machine at a discounted price. All funds will first go to that. Any remaining donation would be put to good use for building their new Monastery. Please read it, and I humbly ask you to give prayerful consideration to how you might be able to help. The circulation of this cause is most sincerely appreciated and a great help!
Our Lord will assuredly reward those who care for His brides..
Please know the Sisters of the Brooklyn Carmel will be praying for you and all those you hold dear. May the Holy Family bless and keep you!
Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and her Holy spouse Saint Joseph, pray for us!

Our Community of Discalced Carmelite Nuns in Brooklyn NY is in the process of moving to a new location which will be more suited to our contemplative life. In our new location we will not have room to operate our altar bread equipment. We were made aware of the need of a poor community of capuchin sisters in Salvatierra Mexico, who are in need of good altar bread equipment to help sustain themselves. Our Community is also in need of funds to build a new monastery, but in order to help them we are willing to sell our equipment to them at a very reduced cost, which is much less then what it is worth. May God reward you for your donation to this cause which will help support both of our Religious Communities.
