At only 21 years old, Skyler is incredibly young and healthy, so the news was definitely a shock. Everyone who knows Skyler would agree that she is a compassionate, positive, and strong-willed young lady and although this is scary, she is not going to let it tear her down.
Her journey has been going on for months now and at times there was a lot of confusion because all of her tests and scans were showing that she was healthy. On March 7th Skyler had surgery to remove a tumor on her neck. We were under the impression that it was a benign tumor, but after it was removed the doctors found that it was a Lymphoma. For the past few months Skyler has been in and out of hospital and doctors appointments doing PET scans, blood work, MRI's, and surgeries. She was living and working in Key Largo, Florida at the time, so, shortly after the news she left and went home to Virginia to meet with doctors closer to home and to be with family. She is now a patient at the "Children's Hospital of King's Daughters" and in the next few days, she will be starting on her chemo journey BUT this has NOT disheartened her; she is still the happy, positive, and smiley friend that we know.
More than ever, Skyler needs our help. The money raised through this GoFundMe page will go directly towards helping Skyler cover her medical bills.
We thank you all in advanced for your generosity and willingness to help. Even if it is small, please know that your donations mean the world.
"Sometimes you don't understand why things like this happen, but not everything in this world has answers. All you can do is stay positive and fight back harder than ever!" - from Skyler
