Help Our Animal Sanctuary Gain Non-Profit Status
For the last 6 years, our farm has served as a sanctuary to dozens of animals that have needed a safe space to call home. Our funds have come straight out of our own pockets for enclosures, feed, hay, vet bills, farrier care, fencing, farm maintenance, and more. While we plan to continue supporting the farm financially, we are looking to expand our resources by also accepting tax-deductible donations and applying for grants as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Forming a non-profit is a tricky and expensive business. There is a massive amount of paperwork that must be completed precisely in order to garner approval by the state and the IRS. We have found a company that specializes in helping organizations like ours navigate the process of becoming tax-exempt, and has the necessary resources (lawyers, accountants, etc.) to ensure we are set up for success in this venture. We will save thousands of dollars by using their service vs. having to hire these professionals individually. Not only will their fees cover the initial formation of the non-profit, but they'll also be "on call" to help us with any questions or issues that arise during our first year. They'll also file our first set of annual paperwork with the IRS. In addition to their fees, this fundraiser would also cover the additional application fees to the IRS and the state of Ohio to acquire the various approvals we'll need.
