Amy Gallagher-Conway, or as some from school will remember her as Amy King, was diagnosed with Stage 2 - Triple Negative Breast Cancer on 05/21/2021. This is an aggressive and invasive cancer, but was caught early and has a very good chance of being cured! Amy is 39 years old and with her 40th birthday coming this summer her doctor told her it was time to start going for her mammograms. So she followed through, made that appointment to have the mammogram done and now here we are, all shocked that this was the outcome. (Ladies if you’ve been putting off your mammograms, go make those appointments!)
Now if you know Amy, you know her life revolves around her children, husband, family and friends. Her children are 15, 13, and 4 1/2 years old. When she isn’t busy with activities with her kids, you’d find her working at one of the local dental offices here in Wallingford, a job she has loved for almost 15 years! There isn’t much Amy wouldn’t be willing to do for others, she would literally give you the shirt off her back as the saying goes. You may also know that Amy has been recovering since her fall in 2019 where she broke her elbow and ankle and had to have surgery to put her ankle back together. She then had another surgery on the ankle last June and was suppose to be getting ready to schedule one more surgery to try and help get some more mobility back. That will now have to be put on the back burner, as Amy now has to yet again get over another hurdle life has thrown her way. As the Oncologist put it this week, Amy and her team of doctors together will "Save her life."
Amy is due to start 5 months of chemotherapy treatment on 6/14/21, followed by surgery. That will mark 2 months after moving into their first house that Amy and Ryan worked years to get. So what they hoped to be a happy and exciting new chapter, has a new not so exciting and scary chapter coming their way. Both Ryan and Amy have already began to miss work due to the many important doctor appointments she has had so far, which unfortunately will have to continue to happen over the next year. So medical and household bills are an area of worry and concern for them. We want to try and help ease that worry and concern by doing this fundraiser, as well as some other things in the future.
We humbly ask for your consideration to donate towards helping Amy in this journey of kicking Cancers A**!
We all thank you for all the love and support you have showered us with since finding this news out. Please continue to keep Amy and her family in your thoughts and prayers! ❤️
