Help our 2 year old pup Sora battle cancer!!
Donation protected
STOP! Isn’t this the most adorable pup you've ever seen? Meet Sora, a two-year-old pitbull mix. Sora has this exceptional capability to light up any room she’s in. She’s the most affectionate and adventurous pup out there, and there is no such thing as too many cuddles with her. Sora loves exploring the world and traveling to new places with her loved ones.
Unfortunately, she has recently been diagnosed with a tumor in her nasal cavity. Nasal cancers make up approximately 1% of all cancer seen in dogs. It is thought that long-nose-breed dogs and senior dogs are at higher risk, Sora is young and short-nosed, so it is extremely rare. What does this mean for her? The cancer will be far more aggressive and more brutal to fight.
The vets and specialists have recommended stereotactic radiotherapy for her with a prognosis of remission and good quality of life. As heartbroken as we are, we know Sora can get through this, and we will be strong and fight this with her, but we also need your help. So far, with all the testing and radiation therapy, the bills have come out to 23000$

Just some thoughts and prayers sent our way is also greatly appreciated! Thank you for all your support as we help Sora kick cancer’s butt!
Full Detailed story:
Sora lived her joyful life until right after her 2nd birthday on August 15th 2022. In September she started sneezing a bit more than usual. She also had diarrhea. I took her to the vet for both, our vet addressed the diarrhea but thought the sneezing could just be seasonal. She was very healthy overall. Over the past few weeks, the sneezing increased a little bit but not much.
Last week on the evening of Monday October 10th when I came back home from work, I saw a few drops of dried blood near her nose. Wednesday (October 12th) morning I took her to our vet again. The vet said it is most probably because of a foxtail in her nose, small chance of it being an infection, even more smaller chance of it being a tumor. They said tumors for 2 year old dogs are almost unheard of, but if a younger dog gets a tumor it is much more aggressive than an older dog getting one. The vet took some bloodwork, and scheduled a foreign body probe under anesthesia for Saturday(October 15).
Sora was bleeding a bit on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday but she was still being her cheerful self and running around. On Friday, she started bleeding a stream of blood every few hours, and her energy level went down. On Saturday, the procedure was started. The vet called me and said they were not able to look into her nose because there was way too much blood. They tried cleaning the nose and going in again, only to find a new batch of blood. They pumped in saline fluid through her nose, it is supposed to clean out her nose and come through her mouth. But when they pumped it through Sora's right nostril, it came out via her left nostril. The vet concluded that there is a mass inside her nose, and is possibly a tumor. The vet said normal vets do not have a CT Scan machine, so I would have to take her to an expert vet. We were also given medicines to control the bleeding.
We took her to the expert vet (Sage), and they took some pre-op tests on Sunday. They said they could not get a CT scan on Sunday. They took the CT scan on Monday(October 17) and conducted another foreign body probe. From the results of the CT Scan, they concluded it is stage 3 nose cancer. Nose cancers for dogs are incurable.. They said radiation therapy would shrink the tumor and give her an almost normal life for ~1 year. Or more if she is lucky. We are still waiting on the biopsy results, which will let us know what type of nose cancer it is.
She is doing slightly better because of the medicines, although she is bleeding sometimes and has trouble breathing at times.
We plan on giving her the radiation therapy next week - it will be over 3 days - October 25, 26, 27. It will have almost no side effects, and she will not feel pain. After that, we plan on giving Sora a fantastic year with lots of fun, hikes, and beaches!!
We will post updates here! Thank you!
