Moongchi is our 15-year-old toy poodle and the heart of our family. For 15 years, he has filled our lives with love, comfort, and countless happy memories. He’s not just a pet to us — he is truly family.

A few nights ago, everything suddenly changed.

Moongchi’s breathing became rapid and labored, and we knew something was very wrong. We rushed him to the vet as soon as they opened that morning. His condition quickly became critical, and he had to be transferred to an emergency hospital where he was placed in the ICU.

For more than 36 hours, Moongchi was in intensive care receiving oxygen therapy and emergency treatment. It was one of the most terrifying experiences we’ve ever gone through. At one point, we were told he was in critical condition and fighting for his life.

But Moongchi is incredibly strong. Our little fighter held on and made it through the worst of it.

He has now been diagnosed with congestive heart failure and will need ongoing medication, monitoring, and follow-up care to help keep him stable and comfortable.

Our veterinarian shared that dogs with this condition often have around 6 months to a year. Hearing that was heartbreaking. But instead of focusing on the time we might have left, we want to focus on making every single day meaningful, comfortable, and full of love for him.

Moongchi has already shown us how strong he is, and no one truly knows how much time we will have. We are choosing to stay hopeful and cherish every moment we get with him. Every extra day with him is truly a gift.

We are so grateful that we were finally able to bring him home after those long and scary hours. Seeing him again brought us so much relief and emotion.

However, the emergency hospital stay, ICU care, oxygen therapy, and tests have created a very large and unexpected veterinary bill.

We are starting this fundraiser to help cover Moongchi’s emergency medical expenses and the continued care he will need going forward.
