Oumar and his wife came to Canada from Côte d’Ivoire four years ago and have been working hard to build their life here. They are in the process of obtaining Canadian citizenship and are proud to call LaSalle their home.
As they prepare to welcome their first child, they are facing an overwhelming challenge. Oumar’s wife is due in mid-December 2025, but their baby has been diagnosed with heart problems. Doctors have determined that she will need to deliver by cesarean section, followed by several nights in the hospital for both mother and baby.
Unfortunately, their situation is complicated:
They do not yet have access to full public medical insurance.
Even with coverage, delivery costs and specialist fees are not included.
The hospital stay in Montréal is estimated at $13,000 per night for the mother and over $3,000 for the baby, not including the essential aftercare that will follow.
Oumar currently holds a closed work permit, which limits his employment opportunities and caps how much he can earn.
This young couple is doing everything they can, but the financial burden is far beyond their means. What should be a time of joy and celebration has become a source of stress and worry.
We are asking for your support to help Oumar and his wife bring their baby safely into the world and ensure they both receive the care they need.
Every donation—big or small—will go directly to covering hospital costs, medical specialists, and aftercare for mother and child.
From the bottom of their hearts, thank you for your generosity, your compassion, and your prayers for this growing family.
❤️ Together, we can give this baby a safe start in life.
