Otto is a crazy ninja cat. On Sunday, as I took off my jewelry, he jumped from across the room, snatched an earring, and swallowed it! We rushed to the vet hospital, where they tried to retrieve it with a scope, but ultimately Otto needed surgery to get the earring out. It’s been a stressful and expensive ordeal, but I’m so grateful he’s on the mend.

This isn’t the first time we’ve faced a pet emergency—back in December, our other cat Bailey needed extensive medical care for a kidney stone. Part of having a pet is the promise to provide medical care when they need it, and I’m committed to keeping that promise, no matter what. Thank goodness for CareCredit, but now I need to pay the money back within the year to avoid a mountain of interest.

Can you put a price on your fur baby’s life? Clearly, I can’t—when they need care, you make sure they get it. This debt feels insurmountable, even with my girls helping.
