Otis is our 8-year-old rescue dog, and he’s truly one of a kind. He was displaced by a hurricane in Florida and spent two long years in a shelter before we found him. When Otis first came to us, he had his front teeth ground down to the gums—likely from chewing rocks out of stress, or possibly from being used as a bait dog. He showed a lot of fear and anxiety, especially around hands above his head, and would cower every time. With patience, love, and the help of a wonderful trainer, Otis has slowly learned to trust again and become a cherished part of our family.
Recently, Otis had to undergo emergency surgery after eating some socks we didn’t know about. He spent two days in the hospital, and while he’s recovering well, the surgery left us with a significant bill. We’ve put the cost on a credit card, but the promotion period is short, and we’re worried about the interest that will soon add up. All the funds raised will go directly toward paying off Otis’s surgery bill so we can focus on his recovery and well-being.
Otis means the world to us. He’s inspired my husband to foster and train dogs in the future, helping more pets become adoptable for loving families. We do our best to support our local humane society, and seeing Otis’s resilience after all he’s been through reminds us of the power of second chances. If you’re able to help, we would be so grateful for your support. Thank you for considering a donation to help Otis heal and continue his journey with our family.
