Help O.T. Heal and Get Back on His Feet
Donation protected
This past Friday O.T. was enjoying a mountain bike coaches retreat in Mendocino to better his coaching skills for the kids on the Berkeley High School MTB Team. Unfortunately, he slipped on some tricky stairs and broke both his tibia and fibula at his ankle in three places. O.T. is headed to surgery on Friday October 11 to have a number of plates and screws placed to hold the bones together until they heal. The first two weeks of his recovery will be in bed and dependent upon a gracious host to help care for him. He will be non-weight bearing for 6 to 12 weeks if the recovery goes well.
O.T. needs some community love and financial support to get him off the disabled list and to resume life, work and coaching the high school team. He has medical coverage for all the bills but will be unable to return to work on his feet at Rose Pizzeria for as long as 4 months. He had also planned to move to a new apartment in mid-November.
Some close friends are getting him to and from the hospital, doctor appointments, pharmacies and more. I'm hopeful his beloved cycling community will rally to his side with financial support, meals, rides, friendship, housing and love for O.T.
His current apartment is up way too many stairs and unsafe for his recovery. O.T will be staying with friends for a while. As we figure out where O.T. lands we will share a meal train to make things easier for him and the hosts.
Thank you for supporting O.T.
