Help Oscar with medical bills and cancer treatment
Hi! My name is Michael and I am fundraising for my friend Oscar.
Oscar and I were both born in June. We met in Sydney when we were in our 20s and for a number of years celebrated our birthdays together.

When I met Oscar he was one of the upcoming IT “whiz kids” and was quite sought after by IT companies. We both loved karaoke. He loved singing Brian Adams songs
He helped a lot of people who were starting in Australia and in the IT world. I lost touch with him in the 2000s and last I heard he went back to the Philippines as his mum got sick.
I caught up with him around 2019. He explained that he had one misfortune after another and lost his way. “I had too much, too soon,” he said. Nevertheless he tried to provide for his family and devoted his time to his mother.
This year I found out that he had cancer of the bone/ leg (soft tissue sarcoma, right femur) . It was so bad that they had to amputate his right leg.
With the COVID19 situation in the Philippines and with little source of income, paying hospital bills for his cancer treatment has been a challenge. The hospital bill so far is 254, 717 pesos ( around AUS $6,703) and it is mounting. Some family and friends have chipped in for his treatment and bills. He is currently unemployed. Any amount will help towards his bills.
Oscar has always been determined and resourceful. He is a fighter. Like all of us, he loves his family and does not want to be a burden to them. He also does not want to burden those of you who know him.
Birthdays mark milestones where we celebrate people and make them happy. For our birthdays in June, I was hoping you can contribute to this fundraiser for Oscar.
For those of you that know him, here is a way to celebrate fond memories many years ago in Sydney.
It is also to give us hope for those who want to pick themselves up and not be a burden to anyone.
I will set up a private FB group for the updates and will set up a time to do a zoom celebration with Oscar. email me for more info [email redacted]
Thank you very much in advance.
