Oscar’s story is one of courage and survival. He fled the violence and instability of Guamúchil, Sinaloa — a region heavily impacted by cartel violence, kidnappings, and murder. He left behind his nursing school, his home, and everyone he knew because he simply wanted to live.

Oscar made the dangerous journey on foot, crossing Mexico and the U.S. border with nothing but hope, faith, and the dream of building a better life in safety. He didn’t come here to harm — he came here to heal.

He has no criminal record. He is kind, respectful, full of love and generosity. Oscar is the kind of person who lifts others up and brings warmth to everyone around him.

Just last week, Oscar was unexpectedly detained by ICE — a painful reminder that even the most peaceful, law-abiding immigrants are still at risk in this system. He is now facing immigration proceedings, and we are doing everything we can to support him legally, emotionally, and spiritually.
