Please Help Support Oscar Diaz During His Cancer Journey

We are reaching out to our family, friends, community, and anyone who may be willing to help support my husband, Oscar Diaz, as he continues his difficult battle with cancer.

Oscar’s journey began on August 18, 2022, when he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma located behind his middle inner ear. Before his diagnosis, he had endured nearly a year of recurring ear and sinus infections, severe pain, and other symptoms. Unfortunately, his cancer was not diagnosed until it had progressed.

Oscar sought a second opinion, and his diagnosis was confirmed by another ENT specialist. He was then placed under the care of the dedicated oncology team in Austin, Texas, who developed an aggressive treatment plan.

For 15 weeks, Oscar endured intensive chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The treatments took an enormous toll on his body. He experienced significant hearing loss and damage to his throat, vocal cords, jaw, and teeth. He ultimately lost the ability to swallow and eat normally and now relies on a PEG feeding tube for his nutrition.

Throughout this journey, our medical expenses continued to grow. We have accumulated substantial medical bills and living expenses, and at times we had no choice but to borrow money from family and friends just to keep going.

Despite everything he had endured, Oscar was determined to regain some sense of normalcy and continue working for as long as he possibly could. He continued working even while dealing with the lasting effects of his cancer treatments because he needed to help pay the bills and survive on his limited Social Security income.

Then, on June 11, 2026, our family received devastating news. After an MRI and PET scan revealed a mass near his left mastoid bone, a biopsy confirmed that the cancer had returned.

Oscar once again faced the unimaginable decision of undergoing cancer treatment. He agreed to begin another round of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Unfortunately, the treatment was incredibly debilitating. It left him severely weakened and caused painful sores in his mouth and throat. His condition eventually became critical when he developed a fever, pneumonia, and sepsis, resulting in hospitalization.

By the grace of God, Oscar survived the sepsis and is now recovering. His doctors have temporarily paused his cancer treatments to allow his body time to regain strength. Once he has recovered, his medical team will determine whether he can continue with radiation or pursue another treatment option.

At this time, Oscar is unable to work, and our family is facing overwhelming medical expenses and everyday living costs while he focuses on getting well.

We are humbly asking for your help.

Any contribution, no matter how large or small, would mean so much to our family. Your support will help us with medical expenses, treatment-related costs, food, household bills, transportation, and the many unexpected expenses that come with this battle.

If you are unable to contribute financially, we completely understand. Sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, and social networks is also an incredible way to help. Every share helps us reach someone who may be able to make a difference.

Oscar has fought incredibly hard for his life, and we are praying that with continued treatment, faith, and the support of our community, he will have the strength to continue this fight.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read Oscar’s story, for your prayers, your kindness, and any support you are able to provide.

May God bless you and your family for helping us through this difficult chapter.
