I'm a classmate of Orrin Palmer, MD from the New York Medical College class of 1985. Orrin is a gifted psychiatrist and a warm, caring friend. Unfortunately, Orrin has Tourette's Syndrome, which has left him with extensive damage to his joints, requiring double hip replacements (these failed), cervical spine fusions, and, currently, a degenerated shoulder. Orrin developed Pyoderma Gangrenosum, which caused severe ulceration of his legs, leading to several episodes of infection and septic shock. The condition became so severe that two years ago, it became necessary for Orrin to have both legs amputated at the knee. Currently, Orrin has Congestive Heart Failure and Chronic Renal Failure (likely from the bouts of septic shock) and has recently been informed that he will likely have to start dialysis within the next 6 to 12 months. Orrin is unable to get into a conventional car and is in desperate need of a wheelchair van to allow for transportation to the dialysis center, physician visits, and general mobility. Sadly, his extensive hospitalizations and physical impairment have had a devastating impact on his personal finances. I am asking those who've had the privilege of knowing this wonderful person and physician to help us achieve this goal for Orrin. Those kind souls who haven't had the opportunity to know him are welcome to help too!
Thank you for your kindness and compassion to help make a difficult life a bit easier.
Gregg Gordon, MD
