Hello everyone,
My name is Shoroug Adam, and I am originally from Omdurman, Sudan. I am currently living in Canada, where I’ve been studying for the past several years. Although I am far from home, my heart remains with My people in Sudan — especially the children and families who continue to suffer deeply because of the ongoing conflict.
My own home in Sudan has been destroyed, and several family members have been killed. Many others in my community have faced the same tragedy. Countless children have been left orphaned, with no one to care for them and no money for food.
The situation in Sudan is devastating:
- 522,000 children have starved to death, and 700,000 more are suffering from malnutrition.
- Over 24.6 million people — more than half the population — are now facing severe food insecurity.
- Around 8.1 million people are in emergency conditions, with 638,000 in catastrophic famine.
- More than 12 million people have been displaced, and over half of them are children.
- In 2025 alone, over 105,000 children have already been treated for severe acute malnutrition, and 3.2 million children under 5 are at risk this year.
I am starting this fundraiser to support orphans and struggling families in Sudan, beginning with my neighbourhood, Umbadda in Omdurman. Funds will go directly to trusted individuals on the ground who will provide food, water, and other essential supplies. As more support comes in, I plan to expand this effort to reach more families in urgent need.
Each food box -- which incudes essential dry goods such as lentils, sugar, rice, tea, oil, and flour -- costs 55000 Sudanese pounds.
This means:
- $10 can feed a child for several days.
- $25 can help contribute towards a food parcel box and support a family with essential staples for several days.
- $50 can help provide a large portion of supplied, supporting a family for about a week.
Every contribution truly matters. Your support will help families survive during the most difficult time of their lives.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Your support -- weather through giving or spreading the word -- can bring hope, nourishment, and a chance at survival to children and families who have lost everything.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with Sudan and helping me bring relief to those who need it most.
— Shoroug Adam
Edit/update:
Bags of Hope Initiative
Donations are used to prepare “Bags of Hope,” which are food packages containing essential dry goods for families facing food insecurity. Each bag provides basic staples that help families get through several days.
Funds are sent directly to trusted individuals in the community who manage purchasing and distribution locally to ensure aid reaches those who need it most.
