On Saturday, March 20th, our beloved friend Orlando Fernandez was involved in a traumatic motor accident on his way to work. He needs our help to get back on his feet––financially and physically!

As a long-time coach at the Motorcycle Training Institute, Orlando felt comfortable on his normal morning commute to the riding range. However, due to the early dawn's low visibility, a large truck hit Orlando head-on while he was merging onto the highway.

Orlando is more than lucky to be alive. Upon impact, Orlando sustained a laceration of the lip, fractures throughout three-fifths of the bones in his left foot, and complex fractures of the face (including a maxillary sinus fracture, a shattered and dislocated upper jaw, and consequent permanent facial paralysis). Over the last few days of hospitalization, Orlando has undergone surgery for his jaw and blood transfusions as a result of extreme blood loss. Over 30% of all motorcycle accidents are fatal, and while Orlando by no means is unharmed, he is safe and has the chance to recover.

As we know, medical bills in America are not for the weak. Ambulatory services along with a lengthy stay in the trauma unit and necessary complex surgeries can cost as much as a house, and Orlando's grand total is too much for him to handle while incapacitated.

Because Orlando is a motorcycle riding coach, he will be unable to work until his injuries heal throughout the next 3-4 months. We need your support to help him get back to where he needs to be! All donations will go directly to Orlando's medical funds and living expenses.
