Hi, my name is Stephanie. I created this GoFundMe to help my son, Orin. Orin is 10 years old. This year, he was old enough to take archery in school. The second he picked up the bow, he was shooting with ease; a real natural. Orin was able to compete in the qualifying round to see if he could make it to state, which was one of Orin's biggest goals. In order to qualify, you had to shoot at least a 200. Orin shot a 236! It was so amazing, and we're so proud of him. Orin achieved his goal and by now had a new one set. He wanted to compete in state and try to qualify for nationals! That's a big goal for such a little guy. Every week of practice, his score got higher, and he was able to hone in on his skills. On the day of the state championships, he was so nervous. When he shot, he got a 254/300, a new best for him. For 3 heats (rounds), he held on to 1st place for the elementary boys! When all was said and done, he tied for 4th and 5th place. He placed 5th and was given the opportunity to go to nationals in Louisville, Kentucky, not only to represent his school but New York State! Orin was only 1 of 3 kids in the capital region moving forward! That's a big area!
So, Orin's dad was diagnosed with neuroendocrine carcinoid carcinoma almost 2 years ago in September. Since then, things have been difficult, and despite stage 4 cancer, he gets up every day, pushes himself, and works his butt off. The school informed us the trip is out of pocket, and right now, with having to travel back and forth to Buffalo, it would be next to impossible to swing. So I ask if anyone could help and donate to Orin to get him and his dad to Louisville, Kentucky, for his national championship. Orin has been working hard to earn money with Mike by doing firewood in order to help pay for his trip. They aren't expecting a handout, just a helping hand up. Thank you, everyone, for helping him follow his dreams and making memories with his dad.
