Help 75-Year-Old Widow Orien Foote Stay in the Home She Built With Her Family
We are asking for help for our friend Orien Foote, a 75-year-old widow who has lived on her family property in Oakland, California for the past 25 years.
Orien and her late husband purchased their home with a simple but meaningful dream. To create a place where their family could live, gather, and build memories for generations to come. For decades, their property has been that place. A home not just for them, but for their children and extended family.
Over the past several years, however, Orien has faced an incredibly difficult series of life events.
Orien lives with serious health and mobility challenges following a car accident and a stroke. Eight years ago she lost her husband, and more recently she lost her oldest son. These losses have been deeply painful, but she has continued doing everything she can to maintain her home and independence.
Until recently, Orien had family living with her who helped manage the property and daily responsibilities. Sadly, those supports are no longer in place, leaving Orien to face these challenges largely on her own.
Almost overnight, she found herself responsible for maintaining the property and managing the financial obligations that come with it.
Without the support she once had, the property has fallen behind on some bills and maintenance, and Orien is now facing the very real possibility of losing the home she and her husband worked so hard to build together.
At 75 years old and living with limited mobility, managing the property and catching up on these obligations has become overwhelming.
Orien has already used her savings trying to keep things afloat. To stabilize the situation and prevent the loss of her home, she needs help addressing several urgent expenses, including:
• Approximately $5,000 in water liens
• Approximately $5,000 in garbage liens
• Property cleanup required to restore fire insurance coverage
• Dumpsters and cleanup to remove accumulated debris
• Essential home repairs and safety upgrades, including heating
In total, the immediate need is approximately $30,000 to catch up on these obligations and restore stability.
The goal of this fundraiser is simple: to help Orien remain safely in the home where she has lived for decades and regain some stability during a very difficult chapter of her life.
Anyone who knows Orien knows her kindness, resilience, and the way she has always cared for others. Now we hope the community can come together to support her in return.
If you are able, any contribution (large or small ) will make a meaningful difference. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this fundraiser with others can help just as much.
Orien shared this message:
"Your thoughtful financial gifts, great or small, would allow me the time to regain stability. I thank you in advance for your kindness and consideration."
