On Sunday, my cat Oreo started showing signs that something was wrong. He became weak and began vomiting, and by late that night, I knew he needed urgent help. Early Monday morning, I rushed him to the veterinary hospital, where we learned he had bladder stones that completely blocked his urinary tract. The veterinarian tried to help, but the blockage was so severe that they couldn’t get a catheter through. Oreo had to undergo an emergency castration, losing all of his male reproductive organs in order to save his life. This was all so sudden and unexpected, and it’s been a very emotional time for us.
Oreo is still not out of the woods—he needs another surgery to remove the remaining stones in his bladder, as well as ongoing medications and follow-up care. The costs for his treatment at Sylvan Veterinary have added up quickly, and I want to make sure he gets everything he needs to recover fully. If there is any money left after Oreo’s care, I will donate it to a fund at Sylvan Veterinary that helps other families facing emergencies like ours.
The support and encouragement from friends and family have been incredible, and I am so grateful for all the love we’ve received. I truly believe that all the good energy and prayers helped save Oreo’s life. If you’re able to donate or even just share our story, it would mean the world to us. Thank you for helping us give Oreo the best chance at a healthy, happy life.
