Hi everyone,
This is my baby Oreo. He is the sweetest most loving boy , always so protective of me and never leaves my side.
On 10/28, he was hit by a car. I took him to the emergency animal hospital. They couldn't tell us if he would make it. Our first update on him was that his breathing sounds were muffled, his lung cavity could have air in it, and the right side of his body was bruised. At any moment, he could have swelling in the brain, go into cardiac arrest, or experience internal bleeding. Our options were to take him home and monitor him there, just sending him home with pain and inflammation medication, or keep him hospitalized for 2-4 days. We had no choice but to keep him hospitalized. He needs to have blood work, an IV for fluids, pain management, blood pressure monitoring, an ultrasound to check for any fluid buildup between his chest wall and lungs, and a neurology consult which is all only the first step. We were told that if we did not get a call at all that night it was a good thing, and thank god we did not.
This morning 10/29 the doctor told me his right front limb was not fractured but he has a brachial plexus injury. Which is an injury that makes it painful and difficult for him to walk or use that leg properly. We were informed that he would need physical therapy. There may be a chance he needs to stay hospitalized for a few more days, his blood pressure keeps fluctuating but the doctors are keeping a close eye on him. They are still monitoring for any late bleeding and thankfully the chances of cardiac arrest are lower now.
My baby is strong and fighting. Any help-a donation, a prayer, or even just sharing means the world to us.
thank you
