Help Orbital Reflector covering costs from previous events

Dear everyone !

Some of you have regularly been flooded with invitations, posters or guest list spots for our music events in Munich throughout the past years. This time though, we would like to invite you to a fictional one. We need you to buy presale tickets to a party which is not happening, as we cannot put it on the way we used to.

After the covid-related lockdown period, multiple underground music promoters in Munich have experienced the same problem. No matter what the reasons were precisely, many (previosly succesful) nights weren‘t sold out anymore. People were going out less. Ticket presales decreased. However, the cost increased, and so did the fees.

Instead of adapting to these developments, we (on behalf of Orbital Reflector) had expanded our plans, launching the FORUM platform, for instance. We developed a sophisticated vision for the OR nights as well. We were enthusiastic, we were taking things conceptually and seriously. But we weren‘t careful, as we invested a lot of time and also money.

Whilst producing the music events that we hosted between Dec ‘21 and Apr ‘23 we witnessed each other putting in an incredible amount of usually unpaid work and also private money. Back then, we wouldn‘t even question being busy for 24h straight, having multiple responsibilities at the same time (not recommended).

Thankfully, the people who came down did appreciate it. And it did pay off emotionally and spiritually. Unfortunately though, our expenses weren‘t balanced through ticket sales. We made debt. And our losses piled up from event to event.

We remained stubborn regarding our values, naive about the numbers, delusional about so-called night-life. But ultimately, we acted irresponsibly not only regarding ourselves but especially towards Import Export, the venue that has ever been hosting us so welcomingly. Our call for your donation is an attempt to get a grip on this very responsibility.

Throughout all this time, the grassroots venue that is Import Export was not only kind and comprehensive, but also extremely forgiving and generous with us. They trusted us in the beginning, when we were a bunch of kids looking for space. They trusted us when we couldn‘t pay the rent anymore. OR simply wouldn‘t exist without them.

After having paid a lot of bills during the past years, we still owe Import Export approximately 2.500€ in total. In order to finally cover these bills, we need to sell 250 fictional tickets at a price of 10€ each. Please support OR and Import Export with your donation.

We are planning to run this fundraiser until Dec 26th at Import Export with our traditional "OR Home Party". Come down, support OR and dance with us, hopefully celebrating a succesful fundraiser before the end of the year!
