Help Orange Julius get care for his broken Tail
Donation protected
I'm Melynda, and a give care for a feral cat colony that was on my property when I arrived here. I trapped and fixed over 33 adult cats, and helped to tame and send to rescue or adoption over 25 kittens in the first summer I lived here. A neighbor was allowing strays to breed and give birth to kittens are feral and so they are very difficult to care for when they have a problem I struggle to be able to make sure that there is no suffering in my 100 percent sterilized colony, and that they are fed well. This was not a responsibility I asked for and at times like when they need a vet, I'm unable to afford that.
Recently Julius started coming around to play with my inside cat's while they are in the catio. He also sprayed my front door and yowled all night like any red blooded intact Tomcat.
I trapped him, and sent him to FCCO for his neuter, but he came back unable to lift his tail and in to much pain to use the litter box as he would scream and hiss if his tail was bent in a certain direction by the sides of the box. He cannot lift the tail out of the way when he uses the box, and seems to have some pain or difficulty using one of his hind legs. FCCO told me to take him to my vet, and had no info on what could have happened to him in their care.
Because he is not feral, but instead appears to be a dumped tame cat ( who is the sweetest cuddly dude ever) I'd like to see him in a home, but he needs medical attention and likely a tail amputation. I assume there would be xrays involved and I read the cost can range from 700 to 1500 depending on area. And we know how vet care is in Portland.
